May 2020

I’ve lost track of the days. We’re somewhere around 70 days of quarantine. I’m starting to lose it. That has nothing to do with art, though, so here are photos of what I’ve been working on since my last post. Starting with paintings ...

Martini - oil on panel (work in progress #wip)

Knock Out Roses - 12x12 oil on canvas - available on my website

Carrots (wip) 20x16 oil on canvas

Bottles (wip) 16x20 oil on canvas

Bathroom Sink - complete - available on my website: bethblackwellcullen.faso.com

Flowers - wip - oil on canvas 20x16

 Dubrovnik - complete - acrylic abstract 24x24

Sunshine Smash - 24x24 acrylic on canvas - available on my website

Ranunculus - 12x12 oil on canvas - available on my website

In action!

On my easel

Scott helped me hang a bunch of my flower paintings in our sunroom / studio

Lime Smash - 24x24 acrylic on canvas - available on my website: bethblackwellcullen.faso.com

Dogwood - SOLD - oil on canvas

Acrylic Abstract - 20x16 - available on my website

20x16 acrylic abstract - available

I also worked on some drawings... and experimented with water soluble graphite

Scott and I played around one night with exquisite corpses (oh, the things we do to entertain ourselves)

And I continue to participate in the Royal Academy of London’s Daily Doodle ...

Today, at 3PM, there will be an announcement from the Atlanta Artists Center president on the winners of the LIMELIGHT exhibition. I’ll let the cat out of the bag ... I won 2nd Place!!! Here’s a photo of me with my award winning abstract :))) A bright spot in what’s otherwise been a rather depressing, chaotic, uncertain and fearful time.

Scott received an honorable mention for his abstract ... so, it’s a pretty great day for us!

Oh ... one more thing ... I’ve been working on mini abstracts and mailing them to people in exchange for one of their minis. Fun idea. Here are some that I’ve mailed out. It’s a way to spread some love and also a way for me to test out some ideas on a small scale. These are about 7x5 ish in size, acrylic on paper.

And, last but not least, some photos of my sweet babies.
